Aula de dança coreógrafa
A modalidade é regida internacionalmente como esporte pela World Dancesport Federation e, no Brasil, pelo Conselho Nacional de Dança Desportiva e de Salão. A atividade tem adeptos no mundo todo e traz, como benefícios, melhorar aptidão física, bem-estar mental e formar relações sociais. A dança esportiva, inclusive, já participa do The World Games, Jogos Mundiais em que são disputados esportes não olímpicos reconhecidos pelo Comitê Olímpicos Internacional.
Não há distinção entre homens e mulheres. É dançada a dois (casal) e contempla 10 ritmos internacionais de danças de salão, divididos em duas modalidades: Standard (valsa lenta, tango internacional, valsa vienense, slow fox e quickstep); e Latin (samba internacional, cha cha cha, rumba, paso Doble e jive).
